To me, “Menschmaschine” is a song about functioning while losing yourself bit by bit. I’ve been wondering what remains of a person when obedience, routine, and external expectations become louder than one’s own feelings. The song starts off cold, mechanical, and almost lifeless, but breaks open exactly at the point where one’s own will begins to emerge again. For me, this isn’t a song about machines, but about the moment when you decide to be human again.
